Ag Expo

Ag Expo
I would like to congratulate the North Louisiana Agri-Business Council on a successful 2012 Ag Expo. It was another great event to spotlight and promote the agriculture industry in our state. I know all the officers and members of the Agri-Business Council put in a lot of hard work and spent many hours preparing for this event. I would especially like to thank Sandy Lyons, Executive Director, Kay Shipp, Past President and Janet Rutledge. I can always depend on these ladies to help me out when I have questions or need something. I don’t mean to offend any of the men on the council but I think back to a story Mr. Jimmy Wade used to tell me many years ago. Mr. Jimmy had an older man named Boots that helped him on the farm. At various times Mr. Jimmy would carry Boots to his house to help Mrs. Margie around the yard. One day when Mr. Jimmy was carrying Boots back to the farm he ask him why he always did what Mrs. Margie ask him to do but he didn’t always do everything he ask him to do. Boots gave him this answer, “ Mr. Jimmy, I learned as longs time ago that if you stays in good with the womens you want have any trouble with the mens”. So gentlemen of the Agri-Business Council—Thank you but a special Thank You to the Ladies cause I want to stay in good with the women. Van Bennett

Ag Expo 2012 saw an overall attendance of 11,500+. For the Friday/Saturday event, 9,272 came through the front door with tickets or advance passes. There were almost 1000 badges issued to show workers/exhibitors. . .most visited the entire show. The Stock Dog Trials, Zebu (Miniature Cow) Show and Jr. Livestock Show drew several hundred folks as participants and spectators. Some of those are included in the Friday/Saturday count, but certainly not all. More than 1200 children visited Ag Alley on Wednesday and Thursday, and approximately 200 attended the awards luncheon.
