Are you Close to God?
On several occasions over the years, I have heard the somewhat amusing story of people aboard a wagon and the mules ran away. As the story goes there was a preacher on board, and in the midst of the calamity he exclaimed, “We’re all going to perish.” Another man shouted, “lord save us.” In turn the preacher looked at him and said, “You had better call on somebody you know.” The man did, what I’m sure we all would have done , in asking for divine intervention, but apparently the preacher thought the gentleman's relationship with God was somewhat lacking. Do you think about your relationship with God? Would you say you are “close to him”? In reading your bible, you find one account after another, of people who wanted to be close to Jesus. The 12 Apostles left behind their livelihood’s to walk with him. In Luke 19 we find the story of Zacchaeus who climbed the sycamore tree just to catch a glimpse of him. Matt. 9:21, tells of a woman who “said to herself, if only I may touch his garment, I shall be made well.” Great crowds followed Jesus every where he went. They were willing, and eager to learn from the master teacher. Is your relationship with God, such that you study his word, and humbly bow to Him in prayer daily? Do you assemble with the Saints each and every Lord’s day to remember his death and suffering? “Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.” James 4:8
