In Memory of Mr. Ray Ashby, Downsville, La

November 24th, 2012 was a sad day for people of North Louisiana and people of any other area that knew Ray Ashby. Ray was a gentleman of all gentlemen. While employed by Farm Credit I personally did business with and knew Ray and his wife Lou Alice for over 30 years. Ray was an individual that saw the good in other people and never spoke badly about anyone. His youngest sister, Carol King, told me that their grandmother always taught them as kids that if they couldn’t say something good about a person then say nothing at all. Ray took this good advice to heart. He lived it and this was quite evident at his wake held at Kilpatrick Funeral Home. There were lines for hours to show their respects to their good friend and the funeral was also filled to capacity. What a tribute to a Christian soldier! As his friend and neighbor, Rick Hill, said “Heaven got a good one,” and I fully agree—Heaven did get a good one when Ray went home. Ray, we will sorely miss you. Please pray for the healing of Ray’s wife, Lou Alice, and their son, Mark, who were both seriously hurt in the car accident. Please keep the entire Ray Ashby family in your prayers for God to comfort and heal them, as only he can.
