Just Rambling January 2015

Just Rambling:
As you can see from the front cover, part of my family went on a cruise for a few days after Christmas. My wife, Donnette, and our three babies, Cody—27, Blair—20, and Dana—23 enjoyed their cruise to Cozumel. Please read Cody’s story beginning on page 3 and I believe you will see who enjoyed it the least. I had specifically told Cody to take care of his Mother—from the stories told, he had a full time job. Cody says I stayed home to take care of Donnette’s cat and Dana’s dog, which I did, but I also had cattle to feed and my daughter’s horses to care for along with their cats at their home in Ruston. I had a full time job but my three older daughters (babies) and my sisters took real good care of me. I gained weight while they were gone and Donnette seemed somewhat envious when I told her my dinner schedule while she was cruising but she didn’t go hungry either. They had a great time but I along with Dana’s dog, Charlie and Donnette’s cat, Boots, were sure glad to see them arriving home. Charlie got so excited he began to chew up all of his Christmas toys and Boots wouldn’t leave Donnette’s side. I had already realized that they thought I was boring but this convinced me on how they felt.

Spiritual Corner:
As we go into 2015 my mind goes to the scripture, Genesis 1:1 - “ In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” Have you really stopped to think about this scripture. How awesome a God we serve—how loving a God we serve that he made the earth, the heavens and all things in it, including man and woman. In today’s world it seems we have so many that deny God as our Creator and they seem very persistent in trying to force their denial of God on others. This may have always existed but with today’s mass media it may just seem more prevalent, but I don’t think so. I think this type of thinking is on the rise. This is Satan at work and we must remain strong in our faith. 1 Peter 5:8-9 - “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.” Remember Jesus says in Matthew 10:32-33 - “Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven.” Proverbs 14:27 tells us “ The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life.” and Proverbs 16:20 tells us “He who heeds the word wisely will find good. And whoever trusts in the Lord, happy is he.” Psalm 18:2 - “The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.” May we all grow stronger in the Lord during 2015.
