Just Rambling:
As I write this article today, October 3, I turn 66 years of age. As I celebrate and thank the Lord for allowing me to live 66 years I think about my parents, grandparents, great grandparents and the lives they lived. I ask myself, what would they think if they were able to come back now and see the America of today. I will venture to say that they would be very shocked at what they see. God’s commandments being ignored by the killing of thousands of unborn babies each year and with same sex marriage being the law of the land. On some college campuses today students don’t want to be called he or she rather be called Z or some other nutty names. Discipline in schools and many homes of today is practically non-existent. Without discipline, respect for your fellowman and responsibility to your family and country cannot be taught. The Lord says “spare the rod and spoil the child”. This is happening throughout our nation. Discipline of your children is now considered child abuse by many in our nation. Millions upon millions are now supported by the government, many of them able bodied individuals that could work but don’t. The Lord also tells us if we don’t work then we shouldn’t eat, but today million are reared to expect the government to take care of them. How long can this last, someone has to work to pay the taxes or our government can’t function. Social Security which is a fund that working people paid into (not by choice), it was mandatory, is now being referred to as an entitlement or a government benefit when actually it is a fund owned by the people that paid into it over the years. This fund is continually raided to pay other things and also people that haven’t paid into the fund are now able to benefit from it. In my opinion all the presidents since Reagan have fell short in their duties as leader of America. I realize that they all probably did what they thought was best for our nation but look at our nation today. You may think that we are doing great and you are entitled to your opinion but I believe if you will realistically look at our nation you will see a nation in decline. Can it be turned around? Yes, if the Lord wills because he is in control but man operates of his own free will which is why we as a nation are struggling. Abraham Lincoln said, “America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.” Think seriously about this quote and look at our nation. Another quote by Abraham Lincoln is, “Sir, my concern is not whether God is on our side; my greatest concern is to be on God’s side, for God is always right.” Are we as a nation on God’s side today? Many in our nation today are denying God and fighting to have his influence diminished in our nation. Why? Because they are under the influence of Satan. In November our nation will elect a new president. I pray that whoever is elected as president will ask God for strength and wisdom to lead this nation according to God’s principals in the future. If this doesn’t happen I think we as a nation, according to Abraham Lincoln, have a good possibility of destroying ourselves. May we all pray for our nation and its future. Van Bennett
