Just Rambling May 2018

Just Rambling: During this month we recognize Memorial Day, or Decoration Day, which is a federal holiday in the United States for remembering the people who died while serving in the country’s armed forces. The holiday, which is currently observed every year on the last Monday of May, will be held on May 28th this year. It was held on May 30th of every year from 1868 to 1970. Memorial Day marks the unofficial start of the summer vacation season while Labor Day marks its end. Memorial Day is not to be confused with Veterans Day—Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving, whereas Veterans Day celebrates the service of all U.S. military veterans. When I think of Memorial Day, I think about all the men and women that have given their lives that we in America can enjoy the many freedoms we enjoy in this nation. I get thoroughly disgusted with many in our nation that enjoy these freedoms, but will not acknowledge our flag or our national anthem. My opinion—these people need to leave our country to see how great they would have life in another country. I know what would happen - they would be wanting to come back real soon. Why do you think so many immigrants want to come to America—they realize what a great nation America truly is. May we never forget our military people that gave their lives that we may enjoy the freedoms of this great nation and may we never forget what all of our veterans have done for each of us. Look at our front cover and you will see that our cattle even respect our flag—they are standing at attention—then we have millionaire athletes and others that sit on their rears to disrespect our flag and our nation. Shame on them because we live in the best nation on this earth. Van Bennett Something to Think About:
It seems we constantly hear about how Social Security is going to run out of money. How come we never hear about Welfare running out of money? What’s interesting is the first group worked for their money, but the second didn’t.. Profound isn’t it? Think about it.
We are advised to not judge All Muslims by the actions of a few lunatics, but we are encouraged to judge All Gun Owners by the action of a few lunatics. Funny how that works.
May Scripture to Live By: “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus,” 1st Timothy 2:1-5
