Just Rambling When I was growing up, I thought that Christmas would never come — it seemed such a long time from one Christmas to the next one. I was told by my parents and other older adults — you just wait, when you get older, time will just fly by. Folks, I am there. It seems like yesterday was New Year’s Day and as I write this, it is June 1st and soon to be in the second half of 2019. When I think about how fast time passes, I think of the scripture — James 4:13-17 — “Come now, you who say, today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit. Whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. Instead you ought to say, ‘If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that’”. As an individual gets older, he or she begins to think more seriously about their life being only a vapor or a breath, his days are like a passing shadow as states in Psalms 144:4. I write this to remind each of us how fast our life passes. I look back over my life and remember so many times when the shortness of life didn’t register with me. Maybe you have had those same feelings, but now it slaps you in the face. I observe my children — how fast they grew up and how busy they are now making a living for their families, or as my baby girl is so busy finishing up vet school. I see how busy they are and can remember those days that so often are so busy that the shortness of life doesn’t dawn on you. I hope this writing reminds each of you and reinforces my thinking about how short life is. We should live with that in mind, studying God’s Holy Word to show ourselves approved to Him so we can inherit that Heavenly Home. In John 14:1-3 Jesus says, “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in ME. In my Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to myself: that where I am, there you may be also”. I worry about our nation as a whole because this nation was founded on God’s Word, but many in positions of authority seem to have forgotten that, or never knew it, or don’t care to remember it. I tell my kids quite often that I fear the future for them and my grandchildren, if more of these non-believers are elected or appointed to positions of authority. Let us all pray that our nation will return to God’s Word and God’s principles that it was founded upon, because life can be real short for our nation if we don’t. Matthew 12:25 reads, “But Jesus knew their thoughts, and said to them, ‘Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand’”. Wake up America! Adhere to God’s Word!
“Without God there is no virtue because there is no prompting of the conscience—Without God democracy will not and cannot long endure.” “If we ever forget that we’re one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under”. —Ronald Reagan
