Just Rambling: As I sit here on October 30, 2019 my mind goes back to the same day last year, when I lost my #1 Daughter—Velvet Lynn Bennett Roberts to cancer. It is hard to believe that it has been a year since I lost my #1 Baby. I think back to the morning of October 30, 2018 after Velvet had passed from this life and everyone had left her hospital room. I couldn’t bear to leave her . I sat beside her bed feeling guilty that I was still here and my baby’s life had been cut short at just 43 years of age. I just couldn’t leave her alone even though she had passed away. Later her husband, Johnny, her son Dusty and her daughter, Savannah came back to be with her until the funeral home personnel arrived. Even though this was Velvet’s second bout with cancer I found it very difficult to realize my baby was gone. This was suppose to be me not one of my children. During this past year I have met and talked with several people that have lost children, which has helped me so much. My #1 Daughter, Velvet, will always be in my heart and on my mind. I miss her every day as I work on my farm because she was always traveling on this farm either by walking or on horseback checking cattle, fences, and enjoying her photography. My hope is that her daughter, Savannah, will take up her love of photography during the coming years. She is a beautiful young lady just like her Mother and I know she would be great at photography just like her Mother. Attention: Please read the article on page 7 (I want you to read everything but especially this) - “Protect children from lead exposure.” We all need to become more aware of lead exposure especially parents with young children.
I want to wish everyone a Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving. Be thankful for the nation we live in and the freedoms we enjoy. We are so blessed in this nation and there are many today that would have our nation change to something they deem better but they are totally misguided. The only thing our nation needs is to revert back to the Christian values it was founded upon and quit letting anti—Christian groups lead the nation in the wrong direction. Psalms 95:6-7—6 Oh come let us worship and bow down; Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker. 7 For He is our God, And we are the people of His pasture. Again, have a Very Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving, Van Bennett
