Just Rambling:
About the front cover: The front cover photo is my daughter, Brittany and her husband, Chance. On Saturday, November 19th, Chance decided to let Brittany set on the deer stand with him, instead of on her regular stand. He had been seeing some good bucks on his camera and since Brittany hadn’t had much time to hunt he decided to let her on the stand with him hoping she would get to kill a good buck. As soon as they got set up in the stand they saw a 4 point at the feeder but nothing else. Brittany said she was about ready to leave but Chance ask her to stay just a little longer. About 10 minutes later the 8 point buck walked out and she shot him. He ran off and they started to climb down from the stand. As Chance was climbing down the ladder they saw another good buck in the same spot. Chance shot and killed him. He fell in his tracks and they found Brittany’s buck just a short distance from the stand. Both of the deer were killed on our farm. Brittany’s eight point weighted 173 with a score of 124. Chance’s nine point weight 160 pounds and scored 143. Both Brittany and Chance said they would never forget this day and they are having both heads mounted to hang in their den. Over the coming years I bet the stories of this hunt will get bigger and better every year. Better watch it Chance, it won’t be long before Brittany will be claiming both of them.
We now have elected a new president— President Elect Donald Trump. I was proud of Hillary Clinton and President Obama , when Mrs. Clinton gave her concession speech and President Obama congratulated Mr. Trump on his victory. Really I was shocked at the tone of their speeches since this election had been so nasty. Their speeches made me feel better about them and America’s future— then all the protesting began. Sure we as citizens of American have the right to peaceful protests but we don’t have the right to vandalize other people’s businesses, block freeway traffic, or defy our nation’s laws. Our American flag is being disrespected and burned. This is not exercising our freedom—this is pure lawlessness. These protesters would have you think they are being mistreated but in reality they are just defiant of our nation’s laws. Ronald Reagan said, “ We must reject the idea that every time a law is broken, society is guilty rather than the lawbreaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his actions.” How long can our nation continue when we have more and more people in our nation turning away from God and not following his commandments. Thomas Jefferson said, “I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that his justice cannot sleep forever.”
