LDAF Launches New Certified Louisiana Logo Program

LDAF Launches New Certified Louisiana Logo Program
Baton Rouge, LA (January 31, 2018) – The Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry (LDAF) has launched a new system to certify authentic Louisiana products.
“People want to know where their food comes from and many want to support local agricultural producers and locally owned businesses,” said LDAF Commissioner Mike Strain, D.V.M.
The Certified logo program, which was already in existence, has new logo designs and a new website to further increase visibility of Louisiana’s agricultural products.
In addition, the LDAF recently strengthened eligibility requirements. “We want the consumer to be certain that he or she is truly buying local products and is also helping the local economy when a product or business uses a certified logo,” added Strain.
For a product to be eligible to use a “Certified Louisiana” logo, the product must be made, grown, manufactured, processed, produced or substantially transformed in the state of Louisiana. A company must also be in compliance with applicable state and federal permits, licenses and laws. The LDAF determines eligibility.
The certified logos include: Certified Louisiana, Certified Cajun, Certified Creole and Certified Farm to Table.
For more information, go to www.ldaf.la.gov and click on the certified logo link or go to https://certifiedlouisiana.org/. There is a $25 non-refundable application fee. If approved, there is a $30 registration fee per logo. All logos must be renewed every three years.
